Obituary

Josephine Hatch Ross

Hampden

Josephine Ross, 94, passed peacefully at her home in Hampden on the 6th of January. She was born on May 16th, 1924 in Bangor to Harold A. Hatch and Margaret J. (Campbell) Hatch and grew up in Bangor and later Hampden. Josephine graduated from John Bapst High School in 1942 and later went on to be employed at both the Telephone Company and JJ Newbury’s in Downtown Bangor.
In 1945 she met the love of her life, Albert, a returning POW war hero, and began a life that carried her to many locations as a Navy Wife and Mother. They eventually settled down in Bangor in 1958, and became active members of the community.
She was a member of St Mary’s Church where she served as both a Lector and Eucharistic Minister, volunteer at St. Mary’s School as well as actively participating in Sodality, Kings Daughters and other church related activities. In later years, Josephine was also an active member of the Hampden Garden Club, and Hampden Historical Society.

Josephine was predeceased by her husband Albert P Ross, her parents Harold and Margaret Hatch and brothers Lewis Hatch and John Hatch.
She is survived by her sister, Theresa Forrest of Winterport; her children Albert P Ross II of Prospect; Annette Ross Anderson and her partner Alicia Sedgwick of Roquebrune, France; Brian Ross and his wife Pamela of Hampden and Patrick Ross of Warwick, Rhode Island. Josephine will also be greatly missed by her two grandchildren, Jessica Ross of Cannan and James Ross of Florida and many special nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to the staff at Loving Touch, especially Lee Batchelder, the staff at Home Care of Maine, especially Judy Smith and Dee Miller and to the entire team of St Joseph’s Hospice for their wonderful care of Josephine.
A Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Josephine’s Life will take place in the Spring when all can gather and pay our respects.
Condolences to the family may be expressed at Memorial-Alternatives .com.

We are so sorry for your loss. When this happens in our family we need more than human strength. God and his Son can provide what we need. Please review these scriptures : John 5:28-29 “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.” Revelation 21:4 “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.
