Obituary

HERMON & BREWER – Lewis F. “Lou” Doughty, 76, died January 11, 2019 at a Bangor Healthcare facility. He was born May 17, 1942, in Bangor, the son of Lawrence and Gertrude (Cross) Doughty.
Lou, also known as Bub, was a longtime employee of Dysart’s in Hermon, Quinn Freight Lines in Brewer, Grant’s Dairy in Bangor, and UPS in Florida later in life. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Oriskany.

In addition to his parents, Lewis was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Frederick Clarke Jr. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gail Doughty of Hermon; sons, Robert Burgess and his wife, Trinity of Florida, Donald Burgess of Bangor; daughters, Lisa Brill of Florida, and Julie Doughty of Hermon; his grandchildren who adored him, Cherish Burgess of Portland, Jeff Burgess of Orono, Michelle Miller and her husband, Kyle of Bangor, Ashley Deluca and her husband, Mike of Bangor, John Andrews and his fiancée, Aurora, Brandi Andrew, Annie Andrews, all of Florida, Toby Andrews, of Colorado, Treven Andrews of Florida, Maya Flynn of Hermon, and Michael Flynn of Hermon; great-grandchildren, Ronin, Ryder, Rebel, Rain, Conner, Cecile, Madelyn, Resse, Alise, Elias, Luke, Bree, Sheli; a brother, Larry Doughty of Brewer; a sister, Dianne “Tootie” Clarke of Bangor; nephews, Frederick Clark IV and wife, Julie of Florida, Scott Clarke and partner, Kerry Davis of Bucksport, Mark Doughty and wife, Tammie of Brewer; a niece, Laurel Doughty of Surry; as well as many other nieces and nephews who loved him as much as he loved them.
There was not a person who met Lewis who wasn’t touched by his kindness and gentle personality. He was a very special man and loved by all who knew him.

A graveside service will be held in Snow’s Corner Cemetery, Hermon, in the spring. Condolences to the family may be expressed at Memorial-Alternatives.
