Danny was born November 17, 1952 and was brought up and lived in Penobsquis, New Brunswick, in his early years. In his youth he was a member of Boy Scouts, enjoyed baseball, hockey, playing darts and golfing. He then developed a love for big trucks and spent much of his working career as a truck driver. He put many miles on over the road in Canada as well as the United States and loved every minute of it. He also had a passion for hunting and fishing and enjoyed taking other hunters to places where he knew they would get their prize.
Danny was also fondly known for his humor and easy going personality. He could be heard at many family events streaming off joke after joke from his years of being behind the wheel and stories of his hunting trips on how things went down. He enjoyed his stops at the restaurants and Big Stops along his route and spending time with other truck drivers. He met Mary Ellen at one of these restaurants and they were married May 1, 1993.
They lived in New Brunswick for a time and then moved to Bangor, Maine in 1997, where she worked as a nurse and he worked doing the job he loved, driving truck until his illness made him retire.
Danny was predeceased by his parents, Havelock and Josephine (McLeod) Dunfield; sister, Joanne; younger brother, Joseph; and sister-in-law, Patricia (Reicker) as well as other aunts and uncles.
Danny leaves behind, to carry on his legacy and treasure so many beautiful memories of a life lived and enjoyed, his wife of 25 years, Mary Ellen; his two sons, Darryl Dunfield, and Jerrod (Kim) Dunfield; treasured grandchildren, Daniel and Adelaide; two step-sons who he loved as his own, Ryan and Travis Middleton; step-granddaughter, Ava-Lynne Middleton; brothers, David (Linda) Dunfield, Karl (Shirley) Dunfield, and Michael Dunfield and their families; brothers-in-law, Art (Kathy) Edson, and Paul (Alice) Edson; sisters-in-law, Barb (Brian) Steeves and Debbie (Carl) Dell and families; as well as a dear Aunt, Ella MacLeod; and numerous cousins. He also leaves behind very special friends, Gerry and Peggy Phillips.
The family will grieve his passing but will treasure the love and memories that Danny gave to them each and every day.
Those who wish to remember Danny in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the organization of their choosing.
There will be a celebration of his life in Bangor for friends and co-workers and a family gathering in New Brunswick to be announced at a later date.
